Priority date becomes current, AOS or CP?

Hello everyone

Today I’d like to talk

and introduce a bit about

when your priority date

becomes current

and you’re facing the green card

application process

Then, should we choose adjustment of status within the U.S.

that is AOS (Adjustment of Status) I-485

or should we opt for consular processing

at the consulate

that is CP (Consular Processing)

For this process

these two ways

have

different

Pros and Cons

So I’ll break it down for you

For example, with I-485 adjustment of status in the U.S.

which is AOS

Its Pros include

for those friends working

in the U.S.

you don’t need to worry

about leaving the U.S.

you can continue

working in the U.S.

so it’s more convenient

However, the Cons

might include two points

First point:

You must obtain your advance parole (re-entry permit)

before you can leave the U.S.

(except for H-1B and L-1 visa holders)

Otherwise

you cannot leave the U.S. during the I-485 processing period

The second point is

compared to consular processing outside the U.S.,

the costs are higher

because you need to pay various

application fees

to the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services)

In contrast

with consular processing outside the U.S.

Its Pros include

First, your travel isn’t

restricted at all

Second

your application fees are significantly lower

You only need to pay the DS-260 application fee

and eventually

when entering the U.S.,

you’ll need to pay for the green card

issuance fee

The downside of this

is that you cannot

during the processing period

you have to wait for your

interview notice

before you can attend the interview

wait for the consulate

to process your entire application

and decide whether you can proceed to enter the U.S.

Another disadvantage

is that if

current international

situations

or certain conditions changed

it could affect your

interview time

That will

be it for today

Bye!

CP Consular Processing
